港大醫學院公共衞生學院最新研究發現，Omicron變異病毒株在光滑及凹凸不平物件表面的穩定性，遠高於原始株，Omicron變異病毒株在光滑表面上7日內仍具有一定傳染力。有關研究結果已於《BioRxiv》發表。 研究團隊比較 Omicron BA.1變異病毒株及原始病毒株在5種不同物料表面上的穩定程度，分別是不鏽鋼、聚丙烯，即一種常用塑膠、玻璃、紙巾及打印紙。結果顯示Omicron BA.1變異病毒株在不鏽鋼、聚丙烯、玻璃表面存放7天，仍有一定傳播能力。而原始病毒株在不鏽鋼及聚丙烯表面存放後第4日，已失去傳播能力，在玻璃表面，於第7日失去傳播力。 研究的通訊作者之一、港大醫學院公共衞生學院教授潘烈文提醒市民應經常徹底洗手，利用1:99稀釋漂白水清潔家居，尤其是有確診者的家庭，能有效減低被污染物感染的風險。
