HSI tumbles, dragged by tech plays

Hong Kong shares plummeted on Tuesday, ending the first day of trade after a lengthy holiday hiatus in the red over China growth concerns and Beijing’s continuing regulatory restrictions on tech companies.

The Hang Seng Index plunged 2.28 percent, or 490.32 points, to close at 21,027.76.

The Shanghai Composite Index ended the day 0.05 percent, or 1.5 points, lower at 3,194.03, while the Shenzhen Composite Index on China’s second exchange fell 0.11 percent, or 2.24 points, to 2,020.28. (AFP)
