Hong Kong stocks tumble at open

Hong Kong stocks opened lower Tuesday following a rout on Wall Street as anxieties spread on rising US interest rates and surging inflation.

The Hang Seng Index dropped 3.92 percent, or 783.46 points, to 19,218.

The Shanghai Composite Index fell 1.28 percent, or 38.36 points, to 2965.78, while the Shenzhen Composite Index on China’s second exchange dropped 1.58 percent, or 29.54 points, to 1,836.38. (AFP)
