Hong Kong Sets up Repository for Sustainable Finance Internships

The Green and Sustainable Finance Cross-Agency Steering Group has launched an internship for Hong Kong students as part of a collaborative effort to build capability for the industry.

The steering group was established by the Hong Kong Monetary Authority (HKMA) and the Securities and Futures Commission (SFC) in May 2020.

It has been working closely with the industry and academia to address capacity and data constraints, developing resources for market participants.

The newly-launched Sustainable Finance Internship initiative takes this a step further as it offers students an opportunity to gain practical hands-on experience in sustainable finance.

This will deepen their understanding of this sector and related career prospects which would encourage them to specialise in this field.

The postings will be centralised at the internship repository of the Centre for Green and Sustainable Finance.

HKMA, SFC, the Insurance Authority and the Mandatory Provident Fund Schemes Authority said in a statement that they are encouraging their respective constituents to join the initiative.

Steering group agencies will also soon commence hiring interns to support their own policy and market development work in sustainable finance.
