Hong Kong Fintech Week 2022 Is Amped up to Push the Boundaries of Fintech

Invest Hong Kong (InvestHK) has unveiled details of Hong Kong Fintech Week 2022 (HKFW), which will take place in person and virtually from 31 October to 4 November.

Themed “Pushing Boundaries, Reaping Benefits”, the seventh edition of the flagship event seeks to lead the development of the industry and deliver fintech breakthroughs in different aspects of financial services and beyond.

A gathering of global leaders in innovation, technology, and finance

Organised by the Financial Services and the Treasury Bureau (FSTB) and InvestHK, and co-organised by the Hong Kong Monetary Authority (HKMA), the Insurance Authority (IA), and the Securities and Futures Commission (SFC), HKFW is set to attract more than 20 000 attendees and over 3 million views online from over 80 economies.

This year’s conference will bring together global leaders and renowned sponsors across different verticals, alongside world-leading fintech innovations to explore the future development of fintech through four key themes – global fintech outlook, fintech in Mainland China and the Guangdong-Hong Kong-Macao Greater Bay Area, the implementation of emerging technologies, and digital assets.

Over 250 distinguished speakers, 400 sponsors and exhibitors, and more than 30 international delegations are expected to join HKFW, with the main physical conference taking place between 31 October and 1 November.

Other activities of the HKFW will include a fintech expo, tech demo sessions, a pitching competition, a startup zone, a deal floor in the main conference, as well as over 20 workshops and satellite events.

Selected keynote sessions will be live-streamed via the official HKFW app and YouTube channel, as well as through Mainland-based tech news platform 36Kr.

InvestHK will also host the final of its pitching competition for Global Fast Track 2022, a programme connecting fintech firms with corporate clients, investors and industry partners.

Secretary for Financial Services and the Treasury, Christopher Hui

Christopher Hui, the Secretary for Financial Services and the Treasury said,

“At a time when Hong Kong is heading towards a post-pandemic recovery, we are striving to strengthen international connectivity, and this year’s Hong Kong Fintech Week is even more meaningful. With the theme of ‘Pushing Boundaries, Reaping Benefits’, the FSTB and InvestHK as the organisers will join hands with co-organisers and the industry to showcase the vitality of our fintech ecosystem to the global markets in innovative ways.

To support the emerging technologies Web3 and the metaverse as a focus of this year’s event, we will issue non-fungible tokens (NFTs) for the first time to test their ability to engage participants. At the same time, the government will issue a policy statement on the development of virtual assets in Hong Kong, demonstrating to the global virtual assets community our vision of developing Hong Kong into an international virtual assets center.”

Attendees will receive a limited-edition proof of attendance protocol (POAP) token issued as an NFT, on a first-come, first-served basis, giving holders exclusive access or early registrations to upcoming industry events and special discounts for next year’s HKFW tickets.

The POAP token will also allow holders to create their own augmented reality avatar with 3D scanning devices at the event, providing a new experience for the guests.
