HK stocks open lower after China PMI data

Hong Kong stocks opened slightly lower on Tuesday following a recent healthy run-up and after data indicated China’s economic recovery was showing signs of slowing.

The National Bureau of Statistics said the non-manufacturing Purchasing Managers’ Index (PMI) was 47.5 in August versus 53.3 in July.

The Hang Seng Index dipped 0.1 percent to 25,524.

The Shanghai Composite fell 0.3 percent to 3,519, while the Shenzhen Composite Index eased 0.1 percent to 2,438. (AFP)
