HK shares open lower after US inflation comments

Hong Kong stocks opened sharply lower on Friday morning after a number of top Federal Reserve officials pushed for a more hawkish approach to fighting inflation.

The Hang Seng Index fell 1 percent to 24,185.

The Shanghai Composite Index eased 0.3 percent to 3,544, while the Shenzhen Composite Index on China’s second exchange slipped 0.5 percent to 2,422. (AFP)
